Cherry and Glass Entertainment Center

Lucy and Dwight called us up to help with their family room. They were looking for a complete redo. The Fireplace and Hearth consisted of Slump stone with a 6x6 Redwood Mantel and the floor was Oak Parquet.

Our solution was simple. We had a local Stone Mason remove the hearth and cover the Slump stone with Cement Board. Interstate Drywall skimmed and textured it to match the room. We took Lucy on a shopping trip to Arizona Tile to pick out her new floor tile and slab for the Fireplace. Our good friends at Block Tops installed the Fireplace surround and Hearth. We used mat black granite for the Hearth to off set the stone Lucy picked.

Dana designed the Mantle and Entertainment center. She came up with the overall look and I worked out the hidden mechanical aspects like the cooling fans for the new Dennon and A/V equipment and the lights. We also added a 5.1 Polk audio system.

The cabinet and hutch are Allegany Cherry with a hand-rubbed wax finish. Behind the glass doors are three pullouts sized just right for VHS tapes or DVDs. The pullouts are Hard Maple with blind dovetail joints. Next to them we have an equipment bay with cooling fans and a pullout shelf.

Fireplace Post Stone InstallationThe two-tone stone design consists of two different stones from Arizona Tile and installed by Block Tops.
