Cherry & Wenge Bookcase
Shortly after meeting the Marquez family we were asked to create a bookcase for their Music room. During the year to follow other pieces came to the top of the "wanted" list faster than the bookcase! Once the Coffee and end tables were completed in the Music room is was evident that it was time for the bookcase. This bookcase was made to compliment both the Wenge and Cherry end tables and coffee table in the Music room.
This leg based bookcase measures in at a massive eight feet in length. It was constructed with Mortise and Tennon joinery held in place with African Wenge pins. The top rails are made from eight quartered cherry. The center piece was made from four quartered figured cherry with a Wenge Accent inlay. The top is connected with floating cleats to account for the movement of the wood over time.
The shelves in the center are constructed completely out of hardwood with breadboard ends and Wenge Pins as an added accent to match the finished ends on the piece. Each shelf is adjustable for the ease of storing taller, collectable editions. All pin holes for the shelving are accented with brushed nickel hardware.
